eFIDS is a highly automated Flight Information Display System designed to minimize the need for airline and airport user interaction.
eFIDS manages arrival, departure, gate and baggage displays found in the terminal and on the web. eFIDS also allows users to obtain and modify flight status information over the phone! eFIDS creates daily operations and schedule deviation reports, as well as monthly operations and landing fee audit reports.
The basic eFIDS package consists of multiple large-screen monitors and LEDs along with PCs used by airline and airport staff to make manual updates to the eFIDS data. eFIDS is capable of displaying arriving and departing flights scheduled for charter or any other flights per the authorized airport operator’s discretion.
eFIDS uses near real time data to track active flights. This information can be used to update the ETA of a flight in progress, as well as to determine when a flight has arrived or departed. In the event that the data feed becomes unavailable, airport and airline staff are notified via e-mail and via an audible alert on the eFIDS admin webpage. During this time, the system maintains all displays in their last updated form. Authorized airport and airline personnel can use their PC workstations or a phone to make updates. When manual updates are made, the changes are propagated to all appropriate eFIDS displays. When the data feed is restored, updates will automatically resume.
eFIDS is the only Flight Information Display System that is AUTOMATED!
Manual intervention is only needed when the airline attendants know that something has caused a flight’s ETA to be different from its scheduled arrival or departure. The only other time manual intervention is necessary is when the data feed, transferred over the Internet, is down.
eFIDS also provides very useful reports for the airport manager. These reports detail the deviations of flight arrivals and departures.
